While the government talks about investment in health, other policy decisions are actively pushing vulnerable Albertans into hardship. The decision to claw back $200 from AISH recipients and transition the program to the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) is a step backward for our province.
Doctors see the results of these choices firsthand. When a patient with a disability is forced to choose between medication and rent, their health suffers, and the pressure on our emergency rooms increases. We cannot build a "world-class" health system while simultaneously eroding the dignity and financial security of Albertans living with disabilities.
